Beloved actor Timothy West, known for his roles in Dad's Army and as an EastEnders icon, has passed away peacefully at the age of 90, enveloped by the warmth of family and friends.
In a statement released by his children, Juliet, Samuel, and Joseph West through his agent, they expressed their heartfelt loss: "After a long and extraordinary life on and off the stage, our darling father Timothy West died peacefully in his sleep yesterday evening." They elaborated on the actor's final moments, stating: "Tim was with friends and family at the end.
He leaves his wife Prunella Scales, to whom he was married for 61 years, a sister, a daughter, two sons, seven grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren.
All of us will miss him terribly. We would like to thank the incredible NHS staff at St George's Hospital, Tooting and at Avery Wandsworth for their loving care during his last days." Throughout his later years, Timothy devoted himself to caring for his cherished wife, Fawlty Towers star Prunella Scales, who bravely battled vascular dementia following her diagnosis in 2014.Timothy became acutely aware of her condition in 2001 during one of her theatre performances, eventually undertaking the role of her principal carer.This touching dedication to his wife was disclosed in 2015 after Timothy spoke with Piers Morgan, where the presenter commented on his devotion: "He's her main carer.
