Cardiacs frontman Tim Smith has died at the age of 59.The musician, who formed the British rock band in 1980 with his brother James 'Jim' Smith, previously suffered from a full cardiac arrest in 2008, prompting him to take a step back from music.He developed the neurological disorder dystonia after suffering hypoxic brain damage as a result of the heart attack, which impacted his ability to speak and play music.Smith's cause of death has not yet been revealed.

Cardiacs, who were cited as an inspiration by bands like Blur and Radiohead, released nine albums between 1980 and 2008, before Smith's health condition prompted him to step back from live performances.
