Thousands of Topshop staff told jobs likely to go after ASOS takeover

Asos announced its takeover.As part of the deal, the fasion retailer has also snapped up Topman, Miss Selfridge and HIIT from the administrators of Arcadia, two months after the retail giant’s collapse.However, it is buying the specific brands and not the shops.All Topshop stores will close, with just 300 jobs set to be saved.

At least 2,500 will be lost as a result of the takeover.Asos announced the deal at 7am, and by 7.45am the online retailer sent out a tweet welcoming Topshop and Topman to "the Asos family".However, it took Deloitte until 9am to inform around 2,500 staff at 70 remaining Topshop, Topman and Miss Selfridge stores that they would not be part of the acquisition, the PA news agency understands.It is understood the remaining.
