A 17-year-old boy has been arrested for a firearm offence and making threats to kill, following a stand-off with officers on Wednesday night.

Police officers were on patrol in Stalybridge when they spotted a male 'behaving suspiciously' at around 10.20pm. A PC and PSCO attempted to speak to the man through the window of their patrol car.

As they got out of their vehicle, the man in question threatened the officers with what GMP described as a 'large silver handgun.' More officers were called to the scene for assistance, and they were also threatened with the firearm, police said.
