The Queen was in 'good form' and 'delighted' at horse racing winner days before she died

Queen's love and involvement in horse racing was apparent up until the day she died, as racing adviser John Warren spoke of her delight at a Goodwood winner on the Tuesday before her death.Warren was the Queen's trusted racing adviser for over 13 years and was sat by her side as Estimate claimed victory in Royal Ascot’s Gold Cup in 2013 – the first time the race had been won by a reigning monarch owned horse.He spoke of the Queen's delight at Love Affairs winning the 3.05 at Goodwood just two days before she died in Scotland.READ MORE: How much the Queen won from horse racing after backing 566 winners in 35 years"On the Tuesday evening she was in really good form, delighted she had had a winner, and talked about the prime ministers coming in and out, and I can hardly believe it possible that within less than 48 hours the Queen had died," said Warren talking to Press Association."Shocking as that was, it is wonderful to know that she led a long and full life, and dutiful to the very end.

Perhaps the racing community contributed to giving her some pleasure along the way."Research conducted by OLBG revealed that Her Majesty won a staggering £8.7million in horse racing since 1988.

Over three and a half decades, the monarch entered horses in 3,441 horses into races in the UK and managed to win 566 of them.Warren was made a Commander of the Royal Victorian Order (RVO) earlier this year, granted to people who have served the monarch in a personal way.

He spent the weekend before the Queen died in Scotland, discussing with the monarch her horses.“We sat there for hours over the weekend strategising and making plans going forward," he added.
