It’s hard to tell what’s an Oscar player and what’s not an Oscar player this year given that the Academy Awards were delayed, we’re getting two extra months of campaigning and films don’t necessarily need to be released within the constraints of 2020 to be eligible.

Take “The Dig,” it has a superstar trio of Carey Mulligan, Ralph Fiennes, and Lily James, in it, but it’s not coming out until January 29, 2021, on Netflix (January 15 theatrically, in a limited run).
