Tennis legend Rafa Nadal taking time away from sport after breathing problems

Rafael Nadal is set to miss four to six weeks of action due to a rib injury which left him struggling to breathe. The Spaniard first felt discomfort during his Indian Wells semi-final win against Carlos Alcaraz on Saturday.He was visibly hampered in the first set of the final with Taylor Fritz, as the American overwhelmed the new world number three with his power and precision from the baseline.

Nadal went off court to receive medical treatment and returned reinvigorated, as he broke his opponent early in the second set.The tennis legend continued to battle through the pain, but went on to lose the second set tie-break as he suffered his first loss of the year and his first defeat in a final for three years.

The 35-year-old returned to Spain and had his injury assessed, before announcing he will spend some time on the sidelines."As it turns out, I have a stress fracture in one of my ribs and will be out for 4-6 weeks," Nadal tweeted, which was also confirmed by his personal physician Dr.
