Taking Back Sunday drummer Mark O’Connell has left the band after 24 years, saying that it “wasn’t an easy decision” and not “entirely [his] own”.O’Connell replaced original drummer Steven DeJoseph in the US band, following the release of their self-titled debut EP (2000).The group underwent numerous line-up changes before landing on Adam Lazzara (vocals), John Nolan (guitar, vocals), Eddie Reyes (guitar), Shaun Cooper (bass) and O’Connell. Reyes departed TBS in 2018 due to “personal reasons”.Yesterday (January 7), O’Connell told fans that he had quit Taking Back Sunday in a statement on social media.“After nearly 25 years as the drummer of Taking Back Sunday, I want to confirm that I am no longer with the band,” he began.

Taking Back Sunday surprised a pair of longtime fans by crashing their wedding.The band up turned up at the couple’s ceremony in Trout Lake in Stroudsburg on the same day they released their new album ‘152’, last Friday (October 27).The couple – Sammi and Adam Seman’s – maid of honour arranged the surprise which saw the band perform ‘I Am The Only One Who Knows You’ and ‘The One’ from their new record. They also presented the couple with flowers and a copy of their new album.

Check it out below.The upcoming LP will be the eighth album from the New York rock veterans, and their first full-length LP in seven years, following on from 2016’s ‘Tidal Wave’.Produced by Tushar Apte (Demi Lovato, Nicki Minaj) and mixed by Neal Avron (Twenty One Pilots, Bleachers), the album gets its name from the section of road in North Carolin, where the band and their friends would meet up as teenagers.

Taking Back Sunday have announced the deluxe reissue of their debut album, ‘Tell All Your Friends’ in honour of the record’s 20th anniversary.The record, which is set to be released on May 27 via Craft Recordings, will be available in multiple formats including CD and digital, will feature liner notes, and have previously unreleased tracks along with the Long Island band’s hit songs ‘Cute Without The ‘E’ (Cut From The Team)’ and ‘Great Romances Of The 20th Century’.A deluxe, 2-LP vinyl set, version of the album is also being released with limited edition colour pressings.Originally released in March of 2002, the album initially sold 2,400 copies the week of its release before surpassing 100,000 units a year later.“The songs on ‘Tell All Your Friends’ will live on forever, destined to be rediscovered by teens one generation after another,” the album’s anniversary liner notes by Glenn Gamboa read. “They capture universal feelings that don’t generally get much play.”Gamboa continued: “That mosh pit of emotions, which were extra raw in those angst-ridden days, starts with the driving rhythms from Mark O’Connell’s drum and Shaun Cooper’s bass.

Alkaline Trio and Taking Back Sunday have announced details of a co-headline UK tour set for spring 2022 – see the dates below.The two bands will head to these shores next March for five gigs, ending with a huge London show at Brixton Academy.
