Buggy-ing out: Tame Amish romance novel with ‘some touching’ and no sex too hot for church elders
Tapestry of Love” (literally — in a notebook) after beginning her writing career at an Amish newspaper. The second novel in her “New Directions” romance series chronicles the romance between two traditional Amish youngsters in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and has sold close to a million copies, the Daily Mail reported Saturday. But Byler has gotten blowback from some community elders who claim the success of her tome is fueling sexual abuse, she told the outlet.“They are very tame books,” Byler said, dismissing comparisons to the sadomasochistic “Fifty Shades of Grey” novels, which shocked and titillated readers just over a decade ago.“There’s nothing unclean in them. There is some touching, my publisher said it would have to be discreet, and a little bit of a kiss,” she said, adding there was no sex in the book.Byler began newspaper reporting when her husband went bankrupt and later transitioned to publishing books for children before writing about the amorous side of Amish culture, where premarital sex — not to mention divorce, cars, electricity and cellphones — are verboten. Her books have increasingly become popular in the conservative US Bible Belt and other Christian communities, and Byler said she has earned a lifetime of money for her and her husband. However, she claims she is being unfairly blamed for recent publicized cases of sex abuse in the Amish community.“In the last 10 years or so, romance novels have become wrong in the community,” Byler told the Daily Mail.

Bill Nighy denies Anna Wintour romance after Met Gala — their pals beg to differ
his and Anna Wintour’s Met Gala debut as a couple, saying in a statement that he and the Vogue editor-in-chief have a platonic relationship.“Bill and Anna have simply been great friends for two decades,” the “Love Actually” star’s rep told Page Six Monday.“They are not in a relationship.”The duo arrived together at Wintour’s big night and walked the red carpet arm-in-arm, prompting viewers to speculate that the fashionable fund-raiser was their big debut. Both Nighy and Wintour had attended previous Met Galas solo. The Post even heard that Wintour’s closest friends were “thrilled for them to be making it official at the Met.”Apparently, they were only firming up their friendship — depending on whom you believe. The alleged non-couple sparked romance rumors in 2018 when they were spotted taking in two plays together, but even then the “Best Exotic Marigold Hotel” actor shut down any hearsay. The new couple, who are both Brits, also set tongues wagging last December when they were spotted together at a New York screening of Nighy’s Oscar-nominated film, “Living.”But the friendship appeared to take a romantic turn three years ago when they dined together, and eyewitnesses told The Post that Wintour, 73, was “beaming” the whole night.“She looked happy and in very good company.

Nancy Meyers rom-com not moving forward at Netflix: report
Hollywood Reporter. The company gave her a cap of $130 million, according to the report, but the filmmaker requested $150 million. The flick had Scarlett Johansson, Penélope Cruz, Michael Fassbender and Owen Wilson in talks to star. The name was allegedly titled “Paris Paramount” and Meyers was set to write, direct and produce the feature. The project was announced last year and the plot would have chronicled a young writer-director who falls head over heels for a movie producer. The Post reached out to Meyers for comment. The synopsis is semi-autobiographical for Meyers, as she was married to director Charles Shyer for almost two decades. The duo worked on a few iconic comedies over the years such as “Private Benjamin,” “Baby Boom” and “Father of the Bride.”The movie would have been Meyer’s first flick since the 2015 Anne Hathaway rom-com “The Intern.”In December 2022, Meyers responded to rumors about a sequel to her much-loved 2006 film, “The Holiday.”But she shot down any chatter about a second installment on social media at the time, saying: “So many DM’s about this — sorry but it’s not true.” It was reported previously that the possible sequel had returning stars Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Kate Winslet and Jack Black on board, with production beginning earlier this year. The “Titanic” star, 47, also separately denied that there was a sequel for “The Holiday” in place.“I read something about that, but it’s the first I’ve heard of it,” Winslet told People at the time. “I promise you not an agent or a representative or anyone from the first one around has had any conversation with me about that.
