Lorde has reflected on her debut album ‘Pure Heroine’, which was released 10 years ago this week on September 27, 2013.In a newsletter mailout, the New Zealand singer-songwriter described ‘Pure Heroine’ as a “sweet album”, and that she has “deep respect for the vision of the little one making it”.“It felt like I pulled everything off by the skin of my teeth,” she wrote. “Every week was the most exciting week of my whole life, I was so tired and still didn’t have a winter coat and took everyone clamouring for a piece of me completely for granted.

Lorde has shared a new newsletter entry with fans, detailing how she “took two handfuls of mushrooms”, “felt god” and “merged with her audience”.The singer headed out on a short European festival tour last month, in which she shared revamped versions of songs from her back catalogue.Detailing memories from the tour and more in the newsletter, she wrote: “Earlier this year, I ate two handfuls of mushrooms, solid doses that tasted like green dirt.“I got a lot of information about what my body had been through in our time so far, what it needed, where God was and where God wasn’t; I felt in my bones how destabilising it is to leave home and start a new life the way I did.“I also saw that my body is completely magnificent, and that hating it is as futile as hating a tree; that I truly, truly love doing my job, and that my life is like a beautiful tapestry, and every inch of it is precious and has meaning.”She added that she is now leaving her “childhood working decade” and entering “the one that comes next”.Of the gigs, she added: “It was good to change gears and get out of my head. I put effort into the show, changing the setlist and arrangements, it was cool how you picked up on that, and it felt good dancing to the new versions with you, looking out at you, all sweaty with your friends, all on the same drugs.“I felt the throb of history that’s under this music now, how each year makes these songs feel more like collectively written and sung pieces.

Øya Festival has announced another wave of acts for its 2023, with Lorde confirmed to appear as the Wednesday co-headliner.Sløtface, Roisin Murphy, Okay Kaya, Yo La Tengo, Viagra Boys, Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs, Moderat and Special Interest have also joined the line-up of the Norwegian festival, which is set to return to Oslo’s Tøyenparken for its 23rd edition from August 8-12.Already confirmed to headline will be Wizkid, Blur, Swedish singer-songwriter Håkan Hellström and Sigrid. Lorde, Christine And The Queens and Pusha T have been added to the line-up at this year’s Flow Festival.The event is due to take place in Helsinki, Finland between August 11 and August 13.Organisers confirmed in December that acts including FKA Twigs, Caroline Polachek, Suede and Devo would perform over the weekend before they announced Blur and Wizkid would join the bill in January.The latest announcement will see Lorde make her debut at the festival on August 12 while Christine And The Queens will be making her first appearance on the closing night.
