franchise with Jamie Lee Curtis, filmmaker David Gordon Green is turning his attention to, writing and directing a new sequel that picks up 50 years after the 1973 film starring Ellen Burstyn. And yes, Burstyn is returning to the franchise as Chris MacNeil, the mother of a demon-possessed daughter. “[We] have our spin on what for me is another iconic movie of my youth culture,” Green tells ET’s Will Marfuggi about getting to work on another classic horror franchise “in a couple of weeks.”  Joining Burstyn is two-time Oscar nominee Leslie Odom Jr., who will play the parent of a possessed child.

Ellen Burstyn has revealed in a new interview that she wouldn't agree to return to a new Exorcist sequel series unless future generations of actors were provided for.The 89-year-old Academy Award winner shared with The Hollywood Reporter recently that she initially turned down a 'whole bunch of money' at the start of negotiations to appear in an untitled Exorcist sequel.It was only after she convinced producers to create a scholarship fund for rising actors that she was willing to return to the iconic horror franchise.  Helping others: Ellen Burstyn, 89, revealed to The Hollywood Reporter that she only agreed to star in a new Exorcist sequel after the filmmakers agreed to create a substantial acting scholarship; seen in 2019 in NYCBurstyn clarified that she had 'turned down' a return to the franchise going back to the first sequel, 1977's Exorcist II: The Heretic, which was lambasted by critics at the time but has since developed a cult following.'I've said no every time,' she declared. 'This time they offered me a whole bunch of money and I still said no.' The filmmakers were keen on finally getting her back into the fold, though.'And then they surprised me and they came back and said, "We doubled the offer." I said, “OK, let me think about this," Burstyn recounted.

Max von Sydow, an acclaimed Swedish actor who starred in  and  died on Sunday. He was 90.

Swedish actor Max von Sydow died at the age of 90 on Sunday. His wife Catherine von Sydow confirmed his death to the Paris Match on Monday. "It is with a broken heart and infinite sadness that we announce the departure of Max von Sydow on March 8, 2020," her statement read.

Max von Sydow has died at home, his agent has confirmed.The 90 year old was found dead at his home in France on Sunday. Confirming the death, a statement read: "It is with a broken heart and with infinite sadness that we have the extreme pain of announcing the departure of Max von Sydow, March 8 2020." Max most recently starred in Game Of Thrones as the Three-eyed Raven, but was best known for playing Father Lankester Merrin in The Exorcist.
