Architects frontman Sam Carter has revealed that he initially wanted guitarist Adam Christianson out of the band following the latter’s transphobic and homophobic controversy early last year.In January 2024, Christianson drew the ire of fans – and band members – after he reposted a video on X (formerly Twitter) originally by political commentator Tim Pool, who had quote-tweeted a video shared by American mixed martial arts professional Sean Strickland.In the controversial video, Strickland spoke about a past post in which he said: “If I had a gay son I would think I failed as a man to create such weakness.” He also spoke about past anti-trans posts, adding: “10 years ago, to be trans was a mental fucking illness. Architects have spoken out on the band’s political views after guitarist Adam Christianson shared a controversial post on social media.As Loudwire reports, Christianson recently faced backlash by retweeting a transphobic and homophobic post from an account on X/Twitter.The original message was written by political commentator Tim Pool, who had quote-tweeted a video shared by American mixed martial arts professional Sean Strickland last week (January 17).Filmed at a press conference in Toronto, Canada, the clip sees MMA Fighting reporter Alexander Lee ask Strickland about a homophonic comment he made on social media in early 2022.The tweet in question read: “If I had a gay son I would think I failed as a man to create such weakness.”Lee mentioned Toronto’s gay and lesbian community before Strickland jumped in and asked: “Are you gay?” The reporter responded by saying he was “an ally of the community”.Strickland then doubled down on his past remarks, asking Lee if he would be OK with having a gay son.

Architects have released a surprise single, ‘Seeing Red’ – listen to the heavy new track below.Released on December 4, the fiery new track sees the Brighton quartet at their most brutal, featuring spirited guitar riffs, pummeling breakdowns, and guttural vocals, all culminating in a melodic hook which finds frontman Sam Carter sarcastically tackling his critics: “Read me all my rights / I’ll never grow tired of your great advice / Won’t somebody tell me / What I believe”.The track was released alongside a video by drummer Dan Searle, which depicts the band performing the track against a black backdrop and a minimal set design.Watch the video for Architect’s ‘Seeing Red’ below:In addition to the release of ‘Seeing Red’, the band have also announced a North American tour, scheduled for Spring 2024. Architects have announced that guitarist Josh Middleton has left the band.In a statement posted to Instagram, the band said that they “remain close friends” with Middleton, who joined the band in 2017 following the death of founding member Tom Searle.“It is with a heavy heart that we announce Josh’s time in the band has come to an end,” Architects wrote in their statement. “It has gradually become apparent that we need to go our separate ways, but we remain close friends.”They added: “Josh was a life raft for the band after we lost Tom and he gave us a way to keep the band alive through the hardest experience or our lives.

Architects kicked off an Australian tour in Adelaide last night (February 17), however the show was quickly derailed when a heckler rushed the stage and attempted to assault guitarist Josh Middleton.According to several attendees on social media, the band were four songs into their set – performing ‘These Colours Don’t Run’ from 2012’s ‘Daybreaker’ album – when an unidentified man rushed the stage, made an attempt to physically attack Middleton and screamed obscenities into a microphone; he was reportedly “dragged out of the venue by four security guards” (per concertgoer Dani Brown) and thereafter handled by police.Prior to the incident, the man was said to be loudly heckling singer Sam Carter, demanding that Architects perform older material out of “respect” for late guitarist Tom Searle (who died in 2016).
