Architects will drop a new single, ‘Curse’, featuring former Bring Me The Horizon member Jordan Fish tomorrow (April 9).The Brighton metallers had teased the track by sharing a photo to their social media of a graphic featuring the Architects ‘A’ logo along with the song’s title. Fish’s Instagram handle was tagged in the picture, suggesting he has been involved with their new music.Fish shared the same graphic onto his Instagram story, along with a photo of him in the studio which tagged Architects frontman Sam Carter.Now, the band have confirmed ‘Curse’ will be released at 3pm BST tomorrow.

Architects frontman Sam Carter has revealed that he initially wanted guitarist Adam Christianson out of the band following the latter’s transphobic and homophobic controversy early last year.In January 2024, Christianson drew the ire of fans – and band members – after he reposted a video on X (formerly Twitter) originally by political commentator Tim Pool, who had quote-tweeted a video shared by American mixed martial arts professional Sean Strickland.In the controversial video, Strickland spoke about a past post in which he said: “If I had a gay son I would think I failed as a man to create such weakness.” He also spoke about past anti-trans posts, adding: “10 years ago, to be trans was a mental fucking illness. And now, all of a sudden, people like you have fucking weaseled your way in the world.

Architects have announced that guitarist Josh Middleton has left the band.In a statement posted to Instagram, the band said that they “remain close friends” with Middleton, who joined the band in 2017 following the death of founding member Tom Searle.“It is with a heavy heart that we announce Josh’s time in the band has come to an end,” Architects wrote in their statement. “It has gradually become apparent that we need to go our separate ways, but we remain close friends.”They added: “Josh was a life raft for the band after we lost Tom and he gave us a way to keep the band alive through the hardest experience or our lives.

Architects have suggested that bands should “go on strike” to protest against venues taking a cut of their merch sales.The idea was put forward by the band’s drummer Dan Searle on Twitter, reigniting discourse about artists’ ongoing battle to take home 100 per cent of their merch profits and how it can be achieved.“Hey @bands when are we gonna go on strike and get rid of these insane venue merch cuts? Architects kicked off an Australian tour in Adelaide last night (February 17), however the show was quickly derailed when a heckler rushed the stage and attempted to assault guitarist Josh Middleton.According to several attendees on social media, the band were four songs into their set – performing ‘These Colours Don’t Run’ from 2012’s ‘Daybreaker’ album – when an unidentified man rushed the stage, made an attempt to physically attack Middleton and screamed obscenities into a microphone; he was reportedly “dragged out of the venue by four security guards” (per concertgoer Dani Brown) and thereafter handled by police.Prior to the incident, the man was said to be loudly heckling singer Sam Carter, demanding that Architects perform older material out of “respect” for late guitarist Tom Searle (who died in 2016). Carter addressed this in a speech given after the man was removed: “To turn around and see someone fucking run onstage, and fucking run at Josh… And fucking grab the mic and start shouting whatever the fuck he was shouting – that is fucking insane.“This isn’t a fucking game, this is our fucking lives.

Architects have voiced their support for the Music Venue Trust and Music Declares Emergency’s campaign for music fans to #GoLocal during next month’s Earth Day.The two organisations are asking people to #GoLocal on April 22 by attending a gig in their hometown, and to either walk, cycle or use public transport to go to and from music venues.A survey conducted by the MVT in 2020 found that only 35.2 per cent of punters usually walk to a gig, with the majority (48 per cent) typically travelling to shows in their own car.“When you #GoLocal you are considerably improving the impact you make as an individual on the environmental damage caused by vehicles,” the organisations said in a joint statement.“You are also supporting the cultural development of your town, the development of your local artists and your local venue.”A post shared by Music Venue Trust (@musicvenuetrust)Architects frontman Sam Carter, who is also an ambassador for the marine conservation charity Sea Shepherd, has backed the campaign.“This Earth Day I would like to encourage you to #GoLocal to see some live music, and when you do, why not take a nice walk or cycle to get there instead of a taxi or driving,” he said in a statement. “That way you’re helping the environment, and also you’re helping yourself and your body!
