Architects have released a brand new single called ‘When We Were Young’ – listen to the track below.The Brighton metalcore band’s soaring new record is their first new music since the release of their 2021 album, ‘For Those That Wish To Exist’.“‘When We Were Young’ is a song that recognises what is gained and what is lost as we get older,” drummer Dan Searle said of the track. “As the world unfolds around us we can become overwhelmed by its endless complexity.”He continued: “When I was 20 I thought I had the whole thing sussed, today I’m pretty sure I’ll never understand reality. We lose our innocence as we age, and although fatalism and cynicism can creep in, we also begin to shift our focus toward gratitude for existence and for those that we love.”The song comes alongside a dizzying video, directed by Searle and produced by Jamie Whymark, which sees the band set up in the centre of a rotating camera rig which captures every angle of their explosive performance.Watch the video for ‘When We Were Young’ below:Architects are gearing up to head out on tour in the UK next month – you can see the full list of dates below and find any remaining tickets here.Meanwhile, Architects frontman Sam Carter and his fiancé Abby Kirk have released a children’s book about their fox dog Sophia.Sophia Fox Dog Gets Adopted aims to educate children on what foster dogs go through before they find their forever homes, while also giving a voice to young people who may have been through adoption and foster care themselves.In addition to the book, the pair are also selling a Sophia plushie and a signed card from Carter and Kirk, and a paw print from Sophia.

Architects have released a surprise single, ‘Seeing Red’ – listen to the heavy new track below.Released on December 4, the fiery new track sees the Brighton quartet at their most brutal, featuring spirited guitar riffs, pummeling breakdowns, and guttural vocals, all culminating in a melodic hook which finds frontman Sam Carter sarcastically tackling his critics: “Read me all my rights / I’ll never grow tired of your great advice / Won’t somebody tell me / What I believe”.The track was released alongside a video by drummer Dan Searle, which depicts the band performing the track against a black backdrop and a minimal set design.Watch the video for Architect’s ‘Seeing Red’ below:In addition to the release of ‘Seeing Red’, the band have also announced a North American tour, scheduled for Spring 2024. Spanning 13 dates, the tour commences on May 2 in Toronto’s Rebel, and concludes in Columbus, Ohio’s Sonic Temple on May 13.

Architects have suggested that bands should “go on strike” to protest against venues taking a cut of their merch sales.The idea was put forward by the band’s drummer Dan Searle on Twitter, reigniting discourse about artists’ ongoing battle to take home 100 per cent of their merch profits and how it can be achieved.“Hey @bands when are we gonna go on strike and get rid of these insane venue merch cuts? Architects‘ Dan Searle has responded to the fan-generated backlash that the German music duo OS have received over claims that they copied the band’s artwork.A number of Architects fans have taken issue with OS this week over the recent video they released for their single ‘Er lebt’ and its alleged similarities to Architects’ ‘For Those That Wish To Exist’ album cover, which centred around an astronaut in a church.Posting on his Instagram Stories yesterday (May 13), Searle urged fans to stop the backlash.
