Former Liverpool star Steve McManaman has refuted Gary Neville's suggestion that Manchester United were dominant over the Anfield club in the 1990s because they'd removed their drinking culture.
United dominated the early years of the Premier League under Sir Alex Ferguson, winning the title in 1993, 1994, 1996, 1997 and 1999 - and coming second to Blackburn and Arsenal in the seasons they didn't win it.
Liverpool, despite boasting stars like McManaman, Robbie Fowler and Jamie Redknapp recorded a highest finish of third in those seasons, prompting Neville - a key part of the United side - to question their mentality.
