Three of the biggest late-night shows – The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and Late Night with Seth Meyers – have not been on air since Joe Biden stepped down as the Democratic nominee for President.
The trio went on their summer hiatus – Olympic-induced for Fallon and Meyers – the week before Kamala Harris started running against Donald Trump so expect some politics, and Olympics, next week.
It marked the second time in as many months that the trio missed the big news of the week, having previously been on after President Biden’s disastrous debate performance and Trump’s selection of Vice President.
Colbert will be welcomed back on Monday to the Ed Sullivan Theater by CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins, who has been covering this unprecedented time in American politics for the WBD news network.
