High street chain Starbucks has announced it will pass on VAT cuts to customers from today. The American coffee chain will be giving customers a 15% discount on coffees in its stores across the UK.
The welcomed move follows the government's decision to slash VAT from 20% to 5% in a £4bn saving that can be passed onto consumers.
Other retailers with Starbucks licences will also have the option of passing on reductions to suit their business. The chain, which began reopening UK stores in May, has also rolled out a number of extra safety measures for both staff and customers that includes social distancing and the use of contactless payment only.
