Jack Dunn Netflix has set a Dec. 17 release date for its new bloody party royale mobile game “Squid Game: Unleashed,” based on the Korean drama-thriller that became the streamer’s most popular show ever in 2021. “Squid Game: Unleashed” will be available to play on the Netflix app.

Pre-registration for the game is now open, and potential players can sign up to be among the first to compete for the (virtual) prize pot of 45.6 billion Korean won.

The “Squid Game: Unleashed” release date announcement comes with the debut of a new trailer, which showcases droves of player characters competing in a series of “Squid Game-esque” challenges.

While done in a cartoonish style compared to the show, the game has no shortage of violence. The trailer sees virtual contestants flattened by busses, crushed by wrecking balls and sliced up by massive buzz saws.
