The highly anticipated Squid Game Season 2 doesn’t launch for weeks but is already amassing awards buzz. The Korean smash hit, which remains Netflix‘s most-watched show of all time, has been nominated in the Best Television Series – Drama category alongside Peacock-Sky’s The Day of the Jackal, Netflix’s The Diplomat, Prime Video’s Mr and Mrs.
Smith, FX’s Shōgun and Apple TV+’s Slow Horses. Squid Game Season 2 doesn’t launch until Boxing Day (Season 3 will air in 2025) but qualifies for the globes.
TV shows in hopes of nominations this year were required to have made their shows available in advance to all Golden Globe voters on the Golden Globes Screening Platform either before they premiere, at the time of the initial broadcast, or by November 4.
Jamie Foxx’s nominated Netflix special What Had Happened Was… is also yet to premiere, kicking off tomorrow. The first season of Squid Game received three noms including a win for best supporting actor O Yeong-su, who was the first Korean-born actor to win the award.
