Shock as police descend on quiet cul-de-sac after 'gunshots' fired in Cheetham Hill

On a cold Saturday morning, police officers continued making door-to-door enquiries on a quiet cul-de-sac in Cheetham Hill after reports of ‘gunshots’.

Officers from Greater Manchester Police were called to reports of a 'firearms discharge' on Ermington Drive at around 1pm on Friday, January 10.

Specialist officers were at the scene carrying out searches of the area, near to the border with Salford. This morning, Saturday, January 11, an operational support van remained at the scene as detectives spoke to residents about the incident.

Fortunately, no one has been hurt, the force said. No arrests have yet been made, as detectives are following ‘several lines of enquiry to understand the circumstances'.
