A statue to Scouts founder Robert Baden-Powell has been temporarily saved after the local council said it would provide 24-hour security to stop vandals.
The monument situated in Poole Quay had been scheduled for to be put into storage due to concerns about Baden-Powell's sympathy towards Adolf Hitler.
Officials in Poole, Dorset, had opted to move the monument amid concerns it could be targeted by protesters, but the removal has now been postponed.
A large crowd of locals gathered to protect the statue as they argued that it should stay where it stands. Council leader Vikki Slade tweeted the decision to remove it was taken following a "threat", adding: "It's literally less than 3m from the sea so is at huge risk." The news comes after
