Scots seeking help with council tax debts owed nearly £7 million to local authorities last year.Citizens Advice Scotland said the figure only represents those coming for help, suggesting the number of people in the red will be far higher.Around 2250 people were helped by advisers in 2019, with average debt hitting £3100 - nearly three times the average bill.And in a new campaign, the support group hope to help more people from missing out on exemptions and reductions.Myles Fitt, of Citizens’ Advice, said: “Across the country, most councils are set to increase council tax rates.
