Scots prisoners tuck into turkey dinner and coconut snowballs as Christmas Day prison menus revealed

traditional turkey dinner, pigs in blankets, roast potatoes and gravy. Lags have also been given vegetarian and halal options, while a range of puddings are on offer such as Black Forest gateau and coconut snowballs.

Many jails are delaying their Christmas meal until this evening with prisoners being offered lorne sausage or bacon rolls for lunch instead.

The cost of each meal is thought to be around £2.47 per prisoner or £2.75 per young offender according to Scottish Prison Service bosses.
