Citizens Advice Scotland (CAS) spoke to more than 600 people who have recently applied for Universal Credit (UC) and discovered that seven in ten found the process difficult.
More than a third (36 per cent) encountered at least one problem during the application process, with single parents and single person households were more likely to find the application process stressful compared to family households, and economically inactive clients and clients with disabilities were more likely to encounter at least one problem during the application process.Overall, less than half (41 per cent) of those surveyed were satisfied with the process of applying for UC, with 29 per cent reporting they were dissatisfied and 14 per cent very.
