kidney transplant during lockdown and is now enjoying his new found freedom. And as he runs about with his wee sister, Lexii, five, looking every inch a typical seven-year-old, it is hard to believe his mum was told he wouldn’t live to two weeks old.

Christopher, from Larkhall, Lanarkshire was diagnosed with kidney dysplasia – a condition where one or two kidneys do not develop ­properly in the womb – and stage five renal failure when he was just a week old.

Because of his kidney ­problems, since birth he has been unable to eat foods high in potassium like bananas, yogurt, chocolate and ­tomatoes – which also ruled out his favourite food Pepperoni pizza.
