Schools close as freezing weather hits Ayrshire

A number of schools have been hit by closures this morning after temperatures plunged overnight.Council chiefs confirmed this morning that classes have been cancelled at a number of buildings in East Ayrshire.It follows temperatures falling as low as -9C as a bitter winter blast hit the county.Loudoun Academy has closed due to a power failure and lack of heating this morning.Meanwhile, Drongan Primary and Whatriggs Primary are also closed - as are both schools' early years centres.For the latest news and breaking news visit our website.
