Say so long to slippers, but hold off on high heels – it's time to embrace the in-between shoe

a happy dance at the school gates on 8 March or you’re counting down to outdoor dining, we’re all taking baby steps towards normality.

Which means we’re reaching the point when we’re going to have to put something other than slippers and wellies, which many of us have lived in for months, on our feet.Some people are facing the grand reawakening with glee over the prospect of wearing high heels.

Matches Fashion says sales of party heels have gone up by 25 per cent compared to this time last year.I’m not part of that trend – the thought of squeezing my feet back into 100mm heels sounds entirely unappealing.

For now, the closest I’ll get to my favourite work shoes from last winter is gazing at them in wonder: How did I ever do that?If anything.
