Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) is financing a £300million takeover of the club but they have been dealt several hurdles by opposing parties.One issue in particular has been the one of TV piracy, with Qatari broadcaster BeIN Sports threatening to derail the bid.They claim that a pirate operator in Saudi Arabia has infringed their commercial rights by simulcasting their stream to broadcast to homes throughout the Kingdom.Broadcaster beoutQ has been illegally showing matches - mainly in Saudi Arabia - despite the rights in the region belonging to beIN Sports.Saudi broadcaster Arabsat has always denied that beoutQ uses its frequencies to show games illegally, while the consortium say they are not.
