This news comes after an emotional moment last December when Ruth, on Loose Women, was upset while discussing her family life.The 64 year old presenter spoke candidly about how she felt when her son Jack went off to university, saying it was like having "part of my heart ripped out".
Ruth, who shares 21 year old Jack with Eamonn, struggled to contain her emotions as she described the impact of Jack leaving home.
In a live video chat, Ruth opened up, saying: "That first week of not having him at home literally felt like part of my heart ripped out.
