Eamonn Holmes has shrugged off remarks from Ruth Langsford's friends about her "hurt" over his friendship with another woman, choosing instead to share a post about his favourite Irish romance film.

Ruth, 64, is reportedly taking a break from her role on ITV's Loose Women for the rest of the month as she grapples with their separation and its aftermath.

It's been suggested that she's distressed by the revelation that her husband Eamonn, 64, has been seeking comfort in the company of another woman, with whom he's been seen out and about multiple times.Eamonn took to Instagram to share a snapshot from the 1952 classic The Quiet Man, featuring John Wayne and Maureen O'Hara.

He captioned it: "Probably my favourite film ever. A Romantic view of Ireland. Amazingly released 72 years ago."His followers were quick to express their love for the film in the comments section, reports the Mirror.
