Royals 'not obliged' to wish Meghan happy birthday but 'don't want to make it worse'

Royal Family will be wishing Meghan Markle a happy birthday "through gritted teeth" a royal expert has claimed.Meghan Markle, who turns 41 on August 4, usually receives a round of birthday messages on social media from family and fans alike.But last year's celebrations were done with less than favourable results, one royal expert has claimed, where several members of The Firm were said to have sent birthday messages to avoid further public fallout for the family.READ MORE: Princess Eugenie showed Meghan Markle birthday support with thoughtful gift after MegxitMembers of the Royal Family including Prince Charles, Kate Middleton and Prince William are alleged to have not wanted to make the situation "worse" and sent out messages of birthday support.Royal expert Phil Dampier spoke of the "gritted teeth" mentality of the Royal Family at the time, saying that the family were "not obliged" to offer birthday wishes.Dampier said: "I think it is likely they will send a public message through gritted teeth."I think Charles, the Queen, and William and Kate don’t want to make the situation worse by having a public slanging match with them, but privately I think they are very upset by how things have turned out."Meghan's birthday last year was mired by a number of public comments made during an interview with Oprah Winfrey where the Duchess of Sussex sent shockwaves to the Royal Family.But it would appear that while the family aren't "obliged to give her messages on her birthday" they did so as "they don't want to make it worse," Dampier said.This year Meghan is expected to celebrate her birthday this Thursday with Prince Harry and their children, Archie and Lilibet, at their California home following last years focused around her.
