Rod Stewart was forced to abandon his microphone and pick up a shovel to fill in potholes close to his Essex home.The 77-year-old singer donned a high-vis vest over a black sweatshirt and clutched a spade in both hands as he shovelled gravel into two huge holes in the road to make room for his Ferrari.And Rod wasn’t afraid to get down and dirty with a clean-up crew, donning a pair of protective leather gloves and tracksuit pants for the occasion, along with a bright pair of mint green trainers.Taking to Instagram on Saturday (March 12), Rod could be seen around a set of orange traffic cones, a roadwork sign and a truck filled with gravel as he explained that he had to take matters into his own hands.And Rod helped boost morale by leading his crew in a singalong while they worked.The Sailing singer could be heard explaining: "I’m repairing the street where I live, because nobody can be bothered to do it."This is the state of the road near where I live in Harlow and it’s been like this for ages."People are smashing their cars up.
