The Brazilian centre-back has been criticised for certain erratic performances throughout the season, including in the Gunners' previous match with Manchester City in which he was sent off and conceded a penalty.
However, Luiz shone in the FA Cup semi-final victory over City on Saturday as the lynchpin in the back three between Shkodran Mustafi and Kieran Tierney.
The 33-year-old won each of his four aerial duels and was unflappable as the Gunners played out from the back against City's high press.
