On Saturday (June 24), Japanese-British pop star Rina Sawayama took time out of her Glastonbury performance to talk about controversial musician Matty Healy.
Before performing her song “STFU!,” from her 2020 sophomore album SAWAYAMA, she spoke against The 1975’s frontman. “This goes out to a white man that watches Ghetto Gaggers and mocks Asian people on a podcast,” she said, referring to remarks Healy made on The Adam Friedland Show podcast in February. “He also owns my masters.
I’ve had enough!” Sawayama is signed to the UK record label Dirty Hit, which Healy directed from 2018 until this April. News of his position’s termination broke the same day his Adam Friedland Show episode was removed from Spotify and Apple Music.
