Richard Madeley brushed off an on-air gaffe on Good Morning Britain today, saying "it's live television, these things happen".The Good Morning Britain host said that viewers claimed that he had mistakenly said the word 'penis' instead of Peters when referring to Andi Peters.
During Tuesday's show, which Richard co-hosted with Susanna Reid, he admitted to the slip-up following feedback from viewers. In a discussion with both Susanna Reid and commentators Andrew Pierce and Kevin Maguire, Richard queried: "I have to ask you.
Did you spot my inadvertent slip of the tongue? About an hour ago when I was introducing Andi Peters? I didn't spot it! ".Susanna acknowledged noticing the mistake with her interjection: "I did," leading Richard to confirm: "She did." Responding to Richard's use of 'she', Susanna was quick to correct him, prompting an apology as he reverted to saying Susanna's name.
With a hint of humour, Richard mentioned: "Well if you missed it, it's online now! I called Andi Peters with another word that starts with P and ends with an S," which spurred Kevin to cheekily suggest he repeat it."I really didn't know I said it," declared Richard, reinforcing: "It's live television, these things can happen! " However, Susanna deftly shifted the conversation towards other topics like Barney the dinosaur, before moving on to political analysis.Despite this blunder, Richard greeted audiences once again yesterday during his return to ITV, sparking a variety of viewer reactions to his presence on the show. One viewer expressed, "Not watching," while another conveyed their choice: "Sorry I can't watch Madeley.
