Residents are being warned against using people offering to take away 'trash for cash' during the coronavirus lockdown. Bolton council has warned that the rubbish could end up being flytipped and is now advising people in the borough against using private companies advertising the service.
If the waste is flytipped, both the customer and the company will be liable for prosecution if the rubbish is traced back. Instead, residents are being asked to hang on to bulky waste until household waste and recycling centres reopen - leaving waste outside sites or anywhere else is classed as flytipping and is a criminal offence.
