Police have issued a statement after reports of a 'gang attack' and a man being 'glassed over the head' near a bar in Oldham in the early hours of Sunday (January 26).
Emergency crews were called to a 'fight' outside the Bono bar on Market Street in Royton at around 2am. The victim, a 32-year-old man, reported he had been hit over the head with a bottle.
One witness said a 'gang' had 'jumped on someone’s head twice and beat him to the floor'. Another, posted on social media, said the victim was 'jumped on by about five lads last night'.
Greater Manchester Police confirmed an investigation was launched into the incident and that the victim was taken to hospital for treatment.
