Brendan Rodgers knows there is transfer heat on Reo Hatate – but has backed him to be a smash hit in the Champions League this season, writes Michael Gannon in Japan.
The Hoops boss is not surprised there is speculation around the midfield playmaker with fears former manager Ange Postecoglou could snap him up for Spurs.
Hatate has been linked with other such as Brighton but Rodgers reckons the 25-year-old should stick around for another crack at Europe after impressing in the group stage last season.The Parkhead gaffer said: “Reo will have gained invaluable experience from playing against the best players and best teams in the best stadiums.
Going up against world class players only helps. I watched the Champions League games last season and Reo was excellent. Against Real Madrid at home he was very good.
