Russian side Spartak Moscow are reportedly preparing to test the resolve of Celtic by making an offer for Sweden international Carl Starfelt.The 28-year-old has become a favourite in Glasgow's east end after a tough start as he and partner Cameron Carter-Vickers have forged the backline which a run of five trophies in two seasons has been based on.
Starfelt spent two seasons in Russia with Rubin Kazan and now Football Scotland state Spartak are on the verge of a formal bid for the defender, with their boss Guille Abascal said to be a major admirer.
Celtic are closing in on a new central defender with Maik Nawrocki poised to join on a five-year deal for a fee of £4.5million.
Starfelt has two years remaining on his current deal.But boss Brendan Rodgers would unlikely to be keen to lose a player who has been an ever-present when with former boss Ange Postecoglou leaning on the Swede in the biggest moments of his trophy-laden reign with Celtic.
