Rapper Stormzy issued nine-month driving ban after being caught using mobile phone

Stormzy has been banned from driving after an undercover police officer caught him using a phone behind the wheel. The rapper, best known for hits including Blinded By Your Grace and Vossi Bop, was using his phone while driving his Rolls-Royce in west London and has been issued with a nine-month driving ban.

Stormzy, real name Michael Ebenazer Owuo Junior, 31, pleaded guilty via a letter to driving the Rolls-Royce Wraith while using his device on Addison Road, west Kensington, shortly after 3.30pm on 7 March 2024.

At Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Thursday it was heard that the undercover officer knocked on his “tinted” passenger window and said “get rid of your tints and get off your phone”.

Previously, Owuo admitted driving a Lamborghini Urus which had front windows illegally tinted to only 4% light transmission, violating the 70% requirement.
