Ayrshire could be reduced with the introduction of safe consumption rooms, according to a leading think tank.And another way to tackle the misery at local and national level is to decriminalise the drugs addicts are taking, says The Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh.Ayrshire Live told in December how shocking figures showed that drug deaths across Ayrshire soared by almost a third in a year.
The stark data said 108 people in the county died from drugs in 2019, up from 82 in 2018. According to the figures, from the National Records of Scotland for 2019, East and North Ayrshire both registered 41 deaths, with South Ayrshire tallying 26.
