So help me God." The prince's vow is similar to the Homage of Royal Blood, the vow that Prince Philip made to his wife, Queen Elizabeth II, at her coronation in 1953.
In 1953, Philip vowed: "I, Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, do become your liege man of life and limb, and of earthly worship; and faith and truth I will bear unto you, to live and die, against all manner of folks.
