A royal commentator has claimed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are “increasingly unpopular” in the United States. The claim comes after Prince Harry, 39, faced backlash after being honoured at the ESPY Awards, with the mother of war hero Pat Tillman saying she was “shocked” over the decision to hand the award to the royal an award named after her late son.
In the wake of the comments, royal commentator Nile Gardiner said to GB News that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are “two of the most unpopular figures in the US” - adding that the pair are “very divisive” individuals. “Harry and Meghan, I would say, are increasingly unpopular in the United States.
I described them as two of the most unpopular figures in the US today,” he said. Nile also claimed that the mother of Pat Tillman was “right” to speak about the award. “She was right to attack this award.
And there's already a big online petition calling for the prize not to be given to Prince Harry,” he added. The royal commentator continued: “There's a huge backlash in the United States, and it's an illustration of just how unpopular Harry and Meghan are on both sides of the Atlantic.” The comments come as the Duke Of Sussex is set to receive the Pat Tillman Award for Service at this year’s ESPYS on Thursday, 11 July for his work with The Invictus Games Foundation, which he founded in 2014.
