Police sorry after maskless officer visiting grandma, 92, fails to socially distance

Police have apologised after a police officer failed to wear a mask or socially distance during a visit to a 92-year-old grandmother's home.

Richard Eaton says he was 'horrified' after saying the safety of his grandma Eileen Eaton was put at risk by an officer who failed to follow coronavirus rules.

Richard, who lives with his grandma in Lepton,  Huddersfield, and is her main carer, complained after two officers visited their flat in October for a 'welfare check'.

One officer wasn't wearing a mask and didn't keep her distance from Mrs Eaton, who was isolating because of her age. Richard said the officer "seemed taken aback" when he asked her to wear a mask, reports Yorkshire Live. "I was nice and polite.
