Police officers have been pictured visiting Mason Greenwood's Cheshire home.The snaps outside the Manchester United footballer's house come following a police statement over the arrest of the 20-year-old on suspicion of rape and assault.The Red Devils forward was accused of attacking a woman in a number of shocking posts on social media on Sunday morning.A police statement read: “Greater Manchester Police was made aware earlier today (Sunday 30 January) of online social media images and videos posted by a woman reporting incidents of physical violence.“An investigation was launched and following enquiries we can confirm a man in his 20s has since been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault.“He remains in custody for questioning.“Enquiries are ongoing.”The woman claimed the United player left her with a bloodied face and bruises all over her body.An earlier statement on Sunday from the police had also read: "Greater Manchester Police is aware of images and videos circulating on social media.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances."Meanwhile, United issued their own statement on Sunday afternoon, announcing that the forward has been suspended.The Red Devils said: “Mason Greenwood will not return to training or play matches until further notice.”Greenwood has not been picked by England boss Gareth Southgate since being sent home from Iceland in disgrace in September 2020, after he and Phil Foden broke Covid protocols by inviting two women back to the hotel in Reykjavik.It emerged in the autumn that Greenwood had asked Southgate not to be considered for international selection until the next round of games in March.Greenwood, 20, made his United debut in 2019 and gone on to score 35 goals in 129.
