Manchester United today, leaving the Englishman free to leave for nothing in the summer.Lingard's contract is currently set to expire on June 30, and the midfield reportedly wants to leave.However, according to The Athletic, Lingard's wish will not be granted on Deadline Day despite links to numerous Premier League clubs.Ralf Rangnick had initially allowed Lingard to move, but after a meeting at Carrington on Monday, Rangnick has backtracked on his initial promise.Lingard had hoped to leave in an attempt to gain first-team football to try and force himself into Gareth Southgate's plans for the World Cup.Lingard has made 14 appearances for United this season, however, he only found the net twice for the Red Devils.His form has been a stark contrast to that at West Ham.Lingard moved to the Hammers on loan during the 2020/21 January transfer window, and he was a revelation in the middle of the park for David Moyes' side.The Hammers have been strongly linked for his signature, and so have newly-minted Newcastle United.
