A gunman who caused an armed siege and pointed a pistol at two police officers has been jailed. Robert McNally, who has longstanding issues with mental illness, actually called police himself at 2.08pm on Monday, July 8.
He told them he was feeling violent having just been released from hospital, claiming he had a gun and ammunition. Firearms officers went to McNally’s home and a cordon was put in place while they tried to negotiate with him.
McNally was extremely agitated and refused to comply with officers negotiating with him.
