Willian was also warned his wife and two young daughters would be targeted in further chilling threats made on social media.The situation became so worrying that it led to the Corinthians star hiring a security guard to accompany him to training due to his concerns.
Now The Mirror report a man has now been arrested in relation to the threats, after the Barra Funda Strategic Special Operations division launched an investigation at the request of Willian.Police commissioner Cesar Saad has confirmed charges will be brought against the detained man, who is said to have claimed he didn't expect his threats to be taken seriously.Willian was subjected to numerous threats back in April following Corinthians' defeat to Bolivian side Always Ready in the Copa Libertadores.
His team-mates Cassio and Paulinho were also threatened following the 2-0 away defeat.The former Chelsea man took the matter to the police after the abuser said his two daughters were not safe at school.What more can be done to protect footballers from online threats?
