Officers were called at around 10.50pm on Friday (June 18) to a report of an assault of a woman on Hamilton Street in Oldham.
The woman, in her 20s, was walking along the road when a man grabbed her before taking her to the floor and repeatedly punching her.
Thankfully, the woman managed to call the police and escape with minor injuries. "This was understandably an extremely distressing incident for the woman who was walking on the road,” Detective Sergeant Julie Howell, from GMP's Oldham criminal investigation department, said.
