The Good Morning Britain star is on holiday in Provence after signing off from the ITV daytime show for the summer. Piers has not broken any rules to travel abroad - and has followed guidelines such as wearing a face mask on his flight.
The Government's website states there is no restriction on travel to France from the UK and travellers are no longer required to self-isolate on arrival.
But some of his followers still felt he was setting a bad example. Underneath Piers's picture of an orange sky from a flower-lined terrace, one wrote: "Dr Hilary said DONT fly.
